In 2012, I cut my hair to release the physical and psychological weight that was accumulated after growing it for 15 years. “Forget me not, as my tether is clipped” documents the transformation of my personal beliefs systems and the process of gentrification in the community of Harlem. This work was shot on 16 mm black and white film, in Harlem, NYC at Marcus Garvey park on the corner of 125th street and 5th avenue.

The film premiered at the Studio Museum in Harlem's "Fore" exhibition in 2012. It is in the permanent collection of The Studio Museum in Harlem. Created specifically with funding from the Franklin Furnace Fund for Performance Art, it is one of several works in a larger project focusing on Harlem, NY. The film was made possible, in part, by the Franklin Furnace Fund supported by Jerome Foundation; the Lambent Foundation, and by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
